Engage is honored to have built leadership, committee, and personal office sites for the U.S. House of Representatives. Although each office has a unique role to play on the Hill, they were unified in their goal to make information easily accessible to a wide range of audiences, and most importantly – their constituents.
Our focus on information architecture started with a deep dive into the committee’s or leadership office’s current database and an audit of their content. With a clear structure in place (via a site map), we would then spend time with each site’s unique brand, its goals, and its desired functionalities.
Chair of the House Republican Conference, Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA-5), has the job of uniting the House Republicans in their common purpose. The Conference website, GOP.gov, has the job of delivering that purpose and that vision to the American people. The site’s sleek design showcases solutions to the problems facing America and focuses on real time updates from House Republicans.
LaunchAlthough it’s the oldest house committee, the House Energy and Commerce Committee is often dealing with the latest changes in the fields of technology, health, communications, energy, and the environment. Their new site had to be as innovative as the Committee and put their six subcommittees and front and center. We used the latest trends in design to capture their innovative spirit and built notification and calendar tools to funnel users to the Committee’s latest events and updates.
LaunchPart of Kevin McCarthy’s (CA-23) duties as Republican Leader are to communicate his party’s mission and vision. Centered around a visually striking design, Engage built an easy-to-navigate website that gives Hill staff, policymakers, and taxpayers access to the information they want. Working with the Leader's digital staff, Leader McCarthy's new website features a custom video header that immerses the user into his day-to-day life on Capitol Hill. From the fine details to custom solutions, Engage helped forge republicanleader.gov as a benchmark for web design within the House of Representatives.
LaunchSteve Scalise (LA-1) serves his colleagues as the House Republican Whip. Designed with a nod toward his Louisiana roots, republicanwhip.gov gives users the ability to track legislation important to the Republican Caucus, see the latest news, and track his social media.
LaunchThe Committee wanted to communicate the importance and gravity of their work; their brand and site needed to reflect that. The striking and austere eagle shield reminds viewers of the need to protect America. The Terror Threat Map, an interactive map built with third party tools, reminds users of the brave men and women who are doing that work to protect America.
After winning the 3rd district of Utah in a special election, John Curtis sought a new website that would both be visually elegant—shining a light on Utah’s natural beauty—and extremely functional—bringing constituents closer to their Congressman. The new site needed to be innovative, like Representative Curtis’s dynamic district of tech innovators, members of the BYU community, farmers, and families. With Engage’s new design, constituents could find what they needed in just a few clicks—all set against the beautiful backdrop of their home district.
LaunchRep. Liz Cheney serves as Wyoming’s lone member of Congress in the U.S. House of Representatives. As a newly elected Member, Rep. Cheney needed a website that combined both beauty and function. The final design blended together Wyoming's natural scenery and the state flag. The website highlights her legislative work as well as the issues that are important to Wyomingites. Located directly on the homepage, the recent vote section allows her constituents to easily see how she is proudly working for Wyoming.
LaunchAs evidenced by the stories above, these sites have various different objectives in addition to information architecture. But there is another uniting component amongst all of these sites: the importance of security. No matter the goals, brand, or functionalities, the sites’ solutions must include thoroughly tested code and a secure hosting environment. Engage works with House Information Resources before and after launch to ensure the sites are protected from attacks.
Engage has outfitted Leadership and Committee offices with the latest technologies in web so they can quickly and easily disseminate information to the American people. We’ve created sites that are both innovative and easy to navigate—all while living on a secure environment, protected by the industry’s best practices.
